Rennala is the queen of the Carian royal family and leader of Raya Lucaria Academy. Once a powerful sorceress and astrologer, she claimed the full moon as her own. She is the widowed wife of Lord Radagon, who abandoned her to marry Queen Marika (and later disappeared). She is the older sister of Princess Rellana, the Twin Moon Knight, who is another powerful sorcerress.

She has 3 children: Praetor Rykard, General Radahn, and Lunar Princess Ranni, who all came to be powerful sorcerors, with Ranni succeeding Rennala and having her own Dark Moon.

Radagon abandoned Rennala to become consort to Queen Marika in Leyndell. With him he left an amber egg, which contains a great rune capable of granting rebirth through Rennala's powers. Her heartbreak led to her having an emotional breakdown, which left her in a catatonic state. Because of this, Raya Lucaria Academy locked her away in the academy's grand library. Rennala is protected by Radagon's Red Wolf and Ranni's own magic.

My Thoughts:

Throughout my first playthrough of Elden Ring, I was very fascinated by Rennala's character and backstory. Though there isn't as much readily available information as other characters like Marika, I still fell in love with her character with what we have.

I think it's really unfortunate that there's no more to her story. At the most, she becomes an NPC, but I don't think she gets a happy ending. Hopefully there will be a sequel to the game where you can follow Melina's story (that is if you choose the Frenzied Flame).
